Happy Birthday Natalie!

We celebrated Natalie's first birthday over the entire weekend. Wow, she had 2 birthday parties. Overkill, I know. The first party was on Friday night, which was her actual birthday (May 2nd). We had Daryl's family over for a pizza party, then cake and ice cream. It was nice to see everyone since it had been awhile since we were all together. Natalie had fun opening her gifts, although she enjoyed the wrapping more than the presents. Typical for a one year old.

On Saturday, we celebrated again, this time with friends. I invited our friends and their children since Natalie really doesn't have any friends of her own at this age. It was a lot of fun. The theme was "April showers bring May flowers" and our "May flower" was turning one. The whole party was flowers, it was very spring-like. In addition, the weather was just perfect for a May Party so we were able to enjoy the festivities outside. I tried my hand with fondant and decorated cupcakes with bright colored flowers using cookie cutters, then I got this "as seen on TV" edible flower bouquet kit that I thought I'd try. It wasn't as hard as I thought, and it turned out okay. I may actually do it again.

Then, on Sunday, Henry's friend, Avery, had his 3rd birthday party. His birthday is actually on the 2nd (same as Natalie) but he celebrated on Sunday. Once again, Natalie enjoyed birthday cake. She's probably on a sugar overload, but hey, it only happens once in a while.

All in all it was a fun weekend. My parents were with us. They came up from Arizona on their way back to Seattle so they were able to spend the weekend with us. Henry and Natalie really enjoyed their visit with Nana and Papa.

What a fun weekend. How did Monday go? Where the kids disappointed that it wasn't another party? Great pictures. I love the one of Natalie in her blue dress. Deb
